Ethics Consultation Practice

Ethics consultation is an activity during which an ethical problem or dilemma is analyzed for the root cause and ethically appropriate solutions. Additionally, solutions which are inappropriate are also identified and ruled out so as to avoid additional harm. Ethics consultation can be reactive (when a problem or dilemma currently exists) or proactive (as prevention).

Ethics consultation can also be used as a form of philosophical counseling that uses a philosophical approach for the analysis and management of human problems. Dr Bramstedt has an APPA Fellowship in Philosophical Counseling, as well as a PhD in Medicine (Monash University, 2002), a Fellowship in Biomedical & Research Ethics (UCLA), and a Masters degree in Biomedical & Clinical Ethics (Loma Linda University).
